Pet Travel

One of our vets, Daniel-Dean Steerforth, is approved by the Ministry for preparation of documentation (AHC’s) related to animal travel. Since the UK left the EU, the process has changed and has become more complex.

In order for your animal to be able to travel to EU countries, or further afield, the following information is required by us to prepare the documents:

  • Name, date of birth, species, breed of animal, reason for travel or reason for export.
  • Details of the animals vaccinations, including its Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Number.
  • Name, address and contact details of the owner.
  • Name, address and contact details of the recipient of the animal in the 2nd Country
  • Purpose for which the animal is being exported.

The Rabies vaccination must be given a minimum of 21 days before the animal is due to travel.

For some Countries, not EU countries, a Rabies Anti-body test is required.

The Documentation must be completed by the OV Veterinary Surgeon within 10 days of the intended date of travel. This process can take up to 2 hours to complete.

Please contact reception on 0151 203 2000 to book in or for any further information.
